Filling Stalls
Fill Stalls Once a Week (Set Day)
Things needed: Tractor, sawdust blower, bedding
*Farm specific, skid steer, tractor with a sawdust blower or type of bedding being used*
Tractor with sawdust blower
1. Back tractor with sawdust blower attached into the sawdust shed and scoop up enough sawdust to fill the blower.
2. Drive to the barn
3. Get off the tractor, push cows to an area where they won’t get in the way or get out. Lock them in that spot temporarily.
4. Begin to fill stalls (you may have to back the tractor in to fill stalls)
5. Once finished, unlock cows and close gates
6. Complete all the stalls or beds that need to be done. Filling up the bucket up when its empty
7. Rake the stalls.
Skid Steer
1. Fill bucket with bedding
2. Get out of skid steer, push cows to an area where they won’t get in the way or get out. Lock them in that spot temporarily.
3. Lift the bucket up and above the stalls, shake a little bit of bedding out.
4. Complete all the stalls or bed that need to be done. Filling the bucket up when its empty
5. Once finished, unlock cows and close gates
6. Rake the stalls.
Stall bedder wagon
*Same process as the sawdust blower, but you will need a loader tractor to load bedding into the wagon*
