Smarter Decisions Are Coming to Lely Horizon this month!
As information can change over time, If you read this outside of 6 months from the original post date, please confirm with your WCR advisor that the information is still valid and accurate.
Lely Horizon is getting some new tools designed to make it easier for farmers to find information, understand herd performance, and make better management decisions.
For North American farms, these new features will be introduced in two stages, with releases planned for November 16 and November 30, 2026.
Here are some of the new features to watch for.
A New Look at Reproduction Performance
Reproduction is one area getting some significant attention with the new Horizon updates.
The new Reproduction Dashboard and Reproduction Analysis will give farmers a much better opportunity to dig into the numbers behind their herd's reproductive performance.
Rather than simply seeing a conception rate or pregnancy rate, you'll be able to drill into the data and the individual cows contributing to those results. This can help answer the more important question: Why is my reproduction performance where it is?
The analysis will also allow farms to look at conception rate by inseminator, providing another useful way to investigate differences in breeding results and identify areas worth a closer look.
One of the most interesting additions is Conception Success Prediction.
This new AI-based feature is designed to support breeding decisions by using data to help farmers make decisions around their breeding strategy.
The goal isn't to replace the farmer, breeder, veterinarian or advisor making those decisions. Instead, it gives farmers another piece of information to consider when deciding the best breeding approach for an animal.
Put these tools together and reproduction in Horizon becomes less about simply watching a few key numbers and more about understanding what's driving those numbers.
If conception rate or pregnancy rate changes, the opportunity is to dig deeper, identify the cows or factors influencing the result, and have a much more informed conversation about what may need attention.

New Milk Performance Analysis
Horizon is also introducing Milk Performance Analysis, giving farms another way to analyze milk performance within Horizon.
This is particularly relevant as herds and robotic milking operations become larger and farmers need to work through increasing amounts of information.
Rather than simply collecting more data, the bigger opportunity is being able to turn that data into information that can actually help with day-to-day herd management.

Finding What You Need More Quickly
Some of the most useful improvements may also be some of the simplest.
Horizon's Search Bar is being expanded. Instead of searching only for animals, users will also be able to search for reports and settings.
Anyone who has spent time trying to remember exactly where a particular Horizon setting or report is located will appreciate that change.
Reports are also getting Simple Filters, which allow multiple columns to be filtered at the same time. This should make it easier to narrow a report down to the animals or information you actually want to see.
For larger farms dealing with more animals, groups and information, improvements to navigation and report filtering should be particularly useful.

More Data Is Only Useful if It Helps You Make Better Decisions
The direction behind these updates is straightforward: make information in Horizon easier to find, easier to analyze and more useful when making management decisions.
For us, that's the exciting part.
A farm management system shouldn't simply collect information. It should help turn that information into questions we can act on:
Where are the opportunities in the herd? What has changed? Which animals should we be looking at? What's driving the numbers we're seeing? And where should we focus our attention next?
The new reproduction tools, AI-supported Conception Success Prediction, Milk Performance Analysis, improved search and better filtering are all aimed at making that process easier.
For North American farms, the new functionality will begin arriving in November, with releases scheduled for November 16 and November 30. Depending on the feature, you may not see everything at once.
As the new tools appear in Horizon, take some time to explore them. And if you're wondering how you can use the new information on your farm, talk with your FMS Advisor.
Sometimes the value isn't simply having another report. It's knowing what to look for, understanding what's behind the numbers, and knowing what to do with the information once you find it.
